Summary report on central monitoring transition

Alessandro Paolini reported on the activities of the first month of central monitoring

  • The following probes have problems:
    • UNICORE, waiting for new probe version
    • CREAM, requirements submitted to the product team
    • ARC-CE, waiting for the probe to be packaged for ARGO by the product team
    • QCG, solved
  • Sites will not be suspended for issues caused by the new CREAM probes or by the migration to central monitoring, ARGO team will investigate if autometic recomputations are possible, but sites are always entitled to ask for it.
    • [Action, Emir]: discuss the possibility of auto recomputations for July with the ARGO team
  • 7 sites reported problems but they were due to local configuration, all but 1 solved
  • The probe for the VO-Box will be removed, since the service configuration prevents central monitoring without local service customisation, and the VOs do not need EGI monitoring on VO-Box.
    • No objections from OMB

Updated policy on acceptable authentication assurance

Peter Solagna presented the new version of the policy as edited by David Groep and David Kelsey

The policy has been updated to regulate the use of the IOTA CAs, the goal is to have this policy in production to use it with the online CA (RCAuth) that will be provided together with the other EGI AAI services, in September.

[Action, NGIs]: circulate the policy among the team and security experts at site level to provide feedback by August 20th.

Feedback should be provided to SPG and/or David Kelsey

Operations portal: new VAPOR release

Cyril L'orphelin presented the new features that will be made avialable with the new release of operations portal, in August/september.

The presentation contains the links to the pages that will provide a summary of the information extracted from the GLUE2 branch of the BDII.

NGIs are invited to follow the links provided in the presentation and evaluate the BDII browsing tools, and provide requirements to extend the current views.

Update on the analysis of DIRAC

Alessandro Paolini reported about the analysis of DIRAC as a replacement for WMS and in particular the use of private pilots, to submit payloads using user personal certificates as opposite to robot certificate used for VO pilots.

The deployment scenario will be to have few central DIRAC services to support most of the use cases, but tests need to be performed.

The next steps will be to contact UCB and test DIRAC and private pilots with one or more VOs.

Comments:

  • Sustainability of DIRAC should be assessed for the medium-long term before pushing VOs to this new tool
