The EGI Open Data Platform - Towards Scientific Data Hubs

Europe/Amsterdam
Diego Scardaci (EGI.eu/INFN)
Description
The Open Data Platform is a new service in EGI to support scientific communities in the dissemination and re-use of open, distributed research datasets. The platform is based on the OneData technology and adds data management and data access capabilities - including data replication and 'bring your computation to data' - to existing EGI infrastructure services. The EGI Open Data Platform is developed in the H2020 EGI-Engage project to support communities in the creation of 'Data Hubs' on EGI. Such hubs would offer scalable data access and compute capabilities around scientific datasets for scientific groups at the large scale. The EGI Open Data Platform is currently available as a prototype. The first part of the webinar will introduce this prototype, the second part will provide opportunity to discuss the adoption of the platform for specific use cases.
