The EGI Federated Cloud Platform has traditionally been federating resources managed with open-source cloud management frameworks, installed on-site and owned physically by resource providers. Acquiring the ability to integrate additional resources rented from public cloud service providers, or obtained from them as research grants, has always been an attractive way of scaling out. Having the ability to control virtual resources in the public cloud in a uniform way consistent with how said resources are managed across the current federated infrastructure is a prerequisite to successful integration. This poster shows how integration at the virtual resource management level has been achieved by developing an Amazon Web Services backend for the rOCCI-server -- a compatibility layer component for standardized management of virtual resources in proprietary cloud management frameworks. An OCCI interface to the Amazon cloud is made available for hands-on trial as part of the presentation.
