Large Binocular Telescope Use Case: INDIGO-DataCloud Solutions for an Astronomical Distributed Archive

Not scheduled

Dr Andrea Bignamini (INAF-OATs)

INDIGO-DataCloud (INtegrating Distributed data Infrastructures for Global ExplOitation), a project funded under the Horizon2020 framework program of the European Union, aims at developing a data and computing platform targeting scientific communities, deployable on multiple hardware and provisioned over hybrid (private or public) e-infrastructures. By filling existing gaps in PaaS and SaaS levels, INDIGO-DataCloud will help developers, resources providers, e-infrastructures and scientific communities to overcome current challenges in the Cloud computing, storage and network areas. Our role in the INDIGO-DataCloud project is to provide technical use cases, identify requirements, as well as test the proposed solutions. We present a description of the goals and the identified technological solutions offered by INDIGO-DataCloud for the Large Binocular Telescope Distributed Archive use case, current astronomical requirements and necessities for data persistence and distribution over distinct and geographically separated sites and archives, as well as suggestions on how to meet the current astronomical requirements and integrate them within INDIGO-DataCloud solutions.
