SA1 POST MORTEM - Globus Toolkit 5.2 update ============================================ 03/02/2012 The Globus Toolkit 5.2 update is reported to the EMI EMT list, the update is described as backwards compatible. 06/02/2012 The EMI release manager requires product teams with products that have dependencies, to test the update. 20/02/2012 Mail to EMI EMT that update 5.2 is in EPEL. 20/02/2012 Notification the the OMB from operations manager of NGI Finland that an update of globus packages breaks DPM functionality causing globus-gridftp-server to segfault when any client tries to authenticate. The system affected by the problem is not in production. https://ggus.eu/tech/ticket_show.php?ticket=79354 The same problem is reported to affect StoRM at QMUL. LIP tests a fresh installation and can reproduce the problem. 23/02/2012 M. David confirms that the problem is caused by having autoupdate enabled. The recommended UMD repository configuration is tested and tests show that guidelines are correct: fresh installations and updates of the affected products work fine with the UMD repo properly configured. 23/02/2012 a notification of the problem is sent to the OMB and all members of inspire-sa1 [*] asking to remind site managers to properly configure their repositories adhering to the provided guidelines:http://repository.egi.eu/category/umd_releases/distribution/umd_1/ EFFECT OF INCOMPATIBILITY StoRM and DPM stop working. globus-gridftp-server returns segfault when any client tries to authenticate. IMPACT OF INCIDENT Two sites reported this (one to the OMB directly and GGUS, the other site manager was in contact with Mario David). Maybe the DMSU had other tickets and knows more.
