ScienceSoft - Open Software for Open Science is a new initiative promoted by EMI in collaboration with EGI, StratusLab, iMarine, OpenAIRE and a number of other projects and SMEs. The goal is to explore the feasibility and advantages of creating an open source community for software specific to scientific communities. Also, collecting community requirements and propose realistic solutions while making the activities of producing and using open source software for science more transparent and collaborative across communities and projects. Another part is to implement a sustainable business model based on existing successful examples (Apache, Eclipse, Drupal, SourceForge, etc). ScienceSoft is currently still in a preparation phase and open for input from new members and actors. This contribution will inform about ScienceSoft including a strong call for participation to members of our community.
