  • The code, documentation and link to live deployment about the ENVRI pilot is now available at https://wiki.egi.eu/wiki/Competence_centre_EISCAT_3D#ENVRI_Pilot_-_OpenSource_Geospatial_Catalogue.
    • ACTION TO ALL: Review this pilot and try the live instance. Write feedback and questions to the email list. The feedback should be used for the further development of the portal.
    • ACTION: Gergely to send admin login details to the CC list so that part can be also reviewed.
  • ACTION: Ingemar to contact Sigma about joining back to the CC. Gergely to forward earlier emails about this to Ingemar. Janne can also try in case Ingemar does not get any response.
  • A new document on EISCAT metadata will be available in approx. one week. This can be useful for the portal development. ACTION: Ingemar to circulate this to the CC list once the document is available. Metadata levels to be considered by the portal:
    • Radar parameters (headers in the data files) - Only this one is used in the ENVRI pilot
    • Experiment configurations (scripts in info dir)
    • Analysis setups (simulations of experiments in matlab)
    • Schedule db (experimentors...)
    • SQL db (Owner(s), data sizes)
  • Discussion outcomes:
    • One of the challenges for the portal development is bringing together the scattered and differently structured metadata. Can the OpenRadar standards(?) help here? http://www.openradar.org
    • iRODS in itself is not a as a data catalogue although it has a limited catalogue. It is more a data management system but it is not meant for complex queries or complex custom metadata extraction over multiple heterogeneous datasets. Metadata in iRODS are limited mainly for data management purposes (tags, etc...), not for data discovery. EUDAT used iRODS in conjunction with CKAN. CKAN acts as the data discovery portal. Could the same setup be suitable for EISCAT_3D?
  • Next meeting:
    • Teleconference on the 23rd of April from 10am Amsterdam timezone
    • F2F meeting on 5th of May during the EISCAT session of the Nordic e-Infrastructure Conference
