Present - Lukasz Dutka (LD) Daniel Mallmann (DM) and Matthew Viljoen (MV)
Apologies - Catherine Zwahlen (CZ)
- LD demonstrated a Bash/Python script that has been developed by his team
to determine whether the imaging service deployed on EGI infrastructure
meets the required target of 1 second for serving 8 tiling requests to one
user (for more details see the previous meeting minutes sent by MV on 9 Dec.
<500ms response time should be regarded as optimal. The script is able to
simulate concurrent user requests to test scalability of the service.
Typical outputs of the script are:
#Users dCache OneData
1 750ms 480ms
2 1300ms 850ms
3 2000ms 1100ms
This indicates that EGI infrastructure (both dCache and OneData) currently
meets the HBP imaging service minimum requirements for one user. In
addition, OneData meets it for two concurrent users.
LD says that when scaling up the number of users, initial investigations
show that the bottleneck does not appear to be in the underlying storage
(OneData performance was monitored) but rather in the imaging service
itself. However, this requires further investigation.
- There has been no news from the HBP team regarding making the
visualization service available to deploy on EGI infrastructure.
- Security and requiring authentication to use the imaging service was
discussed. LD had heard from Jeffrey Muller that progress is being made
with using OpenID within HBP and that a release will be made in January.
As a result we will not pursue implementing a username/password protection
on the imaging service deployed on EGI yet.
- This meeting was conducted over WebEx. MV suggested that we have a more
open format of this meeting over WebEx starting in the new year with
anyone interested in the HBP/EGI teams invited to connect. All present agreed
with this.
-> MV to setup new recurring WebEx appointment and circulate contact
details to vt-feddata and egi/hbp mailing lists.
