Wider impact and conclusions
The expected outcome is to receive feedback from the needs of such specific but important and underrepresented community as well as gather the perspectives of the participants through a constructive dialogue.
This networking session will provide useful input first for the planned EGI Virtual Team targeting the agriculture community, and later for the planned joint Virtual Research Community related efforts.
Description of work
The proposed session will bring together stakeholders to discuss and share ideas around providing public infrastructure services to the agricultural community.
The session will be supported by the agINFRA FP7 project, where several grid and cloud enabled services have been already prototyped by the consortium members including FAO (Italy), Agro-Know (Greece), IPB (Serbia), MTA SZTAKI (Hungary), and University of Alcala (Spain).
However, more stakeholders would be crucial to be involved in the discussions because of
-
the continuously evolving of grid and cloud technologies,
-
the rapidly increasing demands (data tsunami and complex integrated services),
-
providing more visibility of existing reusable solutions, etc.
