This webinar provides a brief guide on how to integrate your application/web service onto the EGI Federated Cloud environment. The sessions does not aim to be exhaustive of the overall problem, but to provide a generic overview of the porting process and describe the basic steps to run your application on the EGI Federated Cloud.

The session is targeted at application/web services developers with basic linux system administration skills, a basic knowledge of Cloud technologies is also desirable. The webinar aims to be as generic as possible but the particular technology solutions will use the EGI Federated Cloud environment and may differ on other environments.

Salvatore Pinto graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Salerno, Italy. He started working on Grid operations in July 2009 for the European Space Agency in Rome. He first faced Cloud Technologies in September 2010, using them as a new way to support scientists algorithms development and data processing needs. He joined the EGI Operations Team as Cloud Technology specialist in July 2013.

The EGI Webinars provide a forum through which eminent guest lecturers working in specialist fields relevant to the community are invited to deliver topical presentations via EGI's Webex.

The webinar will be recorded and a video will subsequently be made available via the EGI YouTube chanel.

Porting of your application to a Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environment is a task that can be performed at different levels and with different strategies. These depend on the type of application/web service, its resource consumption, the effort you want to spend in adapting the application logic to the cloud environment and the advantages that the advanced cloud features could bring to your application. This section will address the most common strategies, describing their advantages and disadvantages in order to identify the integration strategy that suits best your application.
