MATLAB in EGI (teleconference)

Europe/Amsterdam
Description
This meeting is organised to discuss how recently introduced MATLAB licensing options could be adopted on EGI for the benefit for existing and emerging user communities. The meeting is open for any interested resource provider and user community from EGI. Connection details (Webex): https://egi.webex.com/egi/j.php?MTID=m2a3a0990b8519a082063941625fbad10 Meeting password: 1234 Agenda: - Introduction (Gergely Sipos, EGI) - MATLAB licensing options for compute centers and users (Silvina Grad-Freilich, Mathworks) - Discussion Preliminary considerations for offering MATLAB on EGI: - EGI resource providers should not need to have MATLAB licence to offer MATLAB capabilities for their users (to be scalable from the Resource provider side) - EGI resource providers are spread in multiple countries (each operating one or more compute-storage clusters for grid/cloud access) - EGI resource providers need packages from Mathworks that can turn their resources into remotely accessible 'MATLAB execution environments' - The users can (must?) have MATLAB licences to access the MATLAB-ified resources (there can be different licencing options here, such as campus licence, research group licence, researcher licence, student licence. It's up to the user/user group) - Paying for any form of MATLAB licence by EGI.eu (coordinator of EGI) is very unlikely - The users need a graphical environment to * register for access to MATLAB-ified EGI resource pool * see available resources of this pool * select specific site for execution * submit the MATLAB application to the selected site * fetch the computational results
