Notes of BBMRI CC meeting (9th of Dec 2016)
(written by Gergely Sipos)
Dutch Workflow:
* 3.4 Workflow: DNA alignment and genotyping; and there is a similar RNA one (not documented in deliverable)
* Virtual cluster with x nodes and with SLURM
* Local contacts: Fokke Dijkstra <f.dijkstra@rug.nl> and Bob Dröge are our SLUMR experts. Also Wietze Albers, Ger Strikwerda, Rob Teeninga
* Expected outcomes of the activity:
** A workflow that's portability between institutes --> Use simple setup to it's easier to deploy elsewhere
** Make institutes able to scale-out to external clouds for large projects (Irene Nooren does pilots on this with Utrecht)
* ACTION (EGI): Meeting with Morris, Fokke, Enol to discuss the detailsof technical setup. Define iterations with increasing complexity, e.g.:
** Deploy cluster, SLURM, workflow into the native OS cloud of UniOfGroeningen. Creation of deployment playbook (e.g. Ansible)
** Deployment at other OS sites
** Deployment at non-OS sites (e.g. with OCCI on OpenNebula; VMWare at MMCI (CZ).
CZ workflows:
* 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 in deliverable
* Already running in local centre with commercial tool
* Non-sensitive data, so BioBankCloud isn't necessary
* ACTION (Petr): Petr, Ondrej, Boris to have a f2f meeting later in December in CZ
Other workflows:
* Identify workflow for BioBankCloud to demonstrate the tool via at least one worflow
* BioBankCloud requires Hadoop/HDFS-enabled applications --> There are such 3rd party NGS tools
* ACTION (Petr): Petr, Morris, Jim to have side meeting to discuss possible workflows
AAI:
* CESNET is implementing the chapter from AAI section of M6.2. Deploying a slightly customized version of the ELIXIR AAI with PERUN for BBMRI
* The security requirements are higher here than in ELIXIR (e.g. stricter identity vetting).
* At the end we assume the generic part of the RI AAI services will be transferable and operated centrally by e-infras (e.g. EGI, GEANT).
Next meeting:
* Gergely to open Doodle for week of after Jan 8 for EUDAT involvement meeting (with Christine)
* Gergely to open Doodle for end of January for next CC meeting
