Abstract: The European Grid Infrastructure, coordinated by EGI.eu, has been established for over a year and during that time it has established a nationally based operational infrastructure, the provision of technology from within the community and the support of user communities. Following an overview of these other activities the presentation will focus on the user communities - namely the organisational support provided to virtual research communities through the User Community Board, the provision of services to these communities to help their exploitation of EGI's production infrastructure, and the services, applications and tools being developed for one set of users that might benefit others. Finally, an overview will be given of the strategies and plans for the future.
