Description

In this work we are going to present the new features of the IGI Application Database, the instance developed in the context of the Italian NGI. The portal is an important showcase for scientists, students and simple users involved in Researcher, or interested in Grid Computing, to get useful information about all the scientific applications already deployed in the national production grid infrastructure and get in contact with the application developers. Recently, the business logic of the IGI Application Database has been improved using jQuery, Ajax, JSON and PHP technologies. This allows rapid web development, a simplification of event handling, and the ability to craft sophisticated custom effects. The Entity Relation Model (ERM) of the IGI Application Database has been improved with new tables and attributes to support new application metadata such as the list of software and compilers used by the application, the e-Infrastructure(s) and the world region(s) where the application is running just, and several others. The structure of the IGI Application Database is compatible (containing a super-set of information) with the EGI AppDB. The move of contents from the first to the second has so far been done manually by EGI.eu experts and can be done automatically as soon as the machinery and policy to write to the EGI AppDB will be released.
