Summary
The VERCE (Virtual Earthquake and Seismology Research Community in Europe) project aims to enable the seismology community to significantly advance its understanding of the Earth's structure and wave sources in order to aid society in its management of natural hazards, energy resources, environmental changes and national security concerns. VERCE's strategy is to provide the community with the tools necessary to fully exploit the under-utilised wealth of available seismological data. A key enabler in this strategy is the creation and use of workflows as a way of executing often-repeated tasks. This presentation focuses on the use of workflows within the VERCE project, highlighting key requirements such as the facilitated use of different compute resources, be they Grid or HPC, and sometimes both in the execution of the same workflow, and outlining the technologies we are investigating in the satisfaction of these requirements.
