Printable Summary

Next-generation sequencing has been a revolution in the field of biomedical research, and the rapid adoption of this technology has expanded the quantity and quality of available data, and at the same time reducing the costs to obtain them. But there are still many challenges that involve both the research consortiums, the "data logistics" and the computer processing systems needed to manage, analyze and store all the data. We will introduce the technology, the challenges and the current approaches using several international genomics projects as case studies.
