EGI Lightning Talks Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is this competition about?
We want to find (up to) four researchers to showcase their work with a Lightning Talk at the EGI Community Forum 2014 Opening Plenary (19 May, 13:00-14:30) in Helsinki.

2) Why?
Because EGI (and its National Grid Initiatives) supports excellent science and innovation across Europe and we want to promote the best examples at our event.

3) Who can apply?
Any researcher who uses the computing resources and/or services provided by the EGI Community.

4) What if I am planning to use EGI resources?
We want to promote the excellence and impact of research that is already using the infrastructure. If you are not yet taking advantage of EGI's services and facilities, you are welcome to apply next time.

5) What are the lightning talks?
Each winner will have ten minutes to present their work and why EGI mattered to it. The talk should have no more than four or five slides (excluding title).

8) What do I get if I win?
The winners will receive:
  • A 10 minute slot during the opening plenary to showcase their EGI-supported work
  • A full-week registration for the Community Forum (including a ticket for the conference dinner)
  • Return flights to Helsinki
  • Accommodation during the Community Forum
