Overview (For the conference guide)

Several teams within EMI are developing accounting solutions which will be deployed on, at least, the EGI production accounting infrastructure APEL. This workshop aims to bring together the different strands to check that they are converging.

Description of the Work

There are at least 8 product teams in EGI working on accounting: APEL, DGAS, three storage and three CE PTs. The plan is that they use messaging to publish standard accounting usage records. For EMI's main customer EGI the publishing will be to the central APEL accounting infrastructure via the EGI production messaging bus. In addition there will be other, possibly non-EMI technology providers, publishing in a similar manner. There is thus a lot of overlap between developments, scope for code exchange, interworking testing etc.

This workshop will allow all the EMI PTs and others to compare their progress, look for overlaps and divergence.

Impact

This interaction between all the interested parties in EMI should increase quality of delivery and sharing of code as well as reduce the risk of divergence between the teams in generation of accounting records and messaging.

Conclusions

This workshop will bring together the numerouse teams wotrking on accounting in EMI and possibly beyond.

proposed as a session in th EMI Technical Conference.
