Overview (For the conference guide)

EUAsiaGrid (2008-10) aimed at promoting awareness of EGEE infrastructures, middleware and services in Europe and 6 participating Asian countries including Malaysia (Universiti Putra Malaysia and MIMOS Bhd). Experience gained from working with EUAsiaGrid partners in the setting up and eventual success of BIRUNI GRID as an EGI Certified Site are being applied to help other universities/organizations in Malaysia to set up their own Grid installation. UPM is now setting up outreach programs by offering expertise to help other universities to establish their own EGI Certified Sites. As of now, from 2 sites at UPM and MIMOS at the conclusion of the Project, two other universities namely University of Malaya and University of Technology, Malaysia have joined EGI followed by two more in Q2 this year. EGI continues to be instrumental in future development of Grid in Malaysia with the endorsement by the custodian Ministry of the EGI site model to be used by other universities/organisations.
