Code of Conduct

At EGI, we are dedicated to provide a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour - including on our online platforms - event organisers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Insulting comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, ...;
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following;
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events;
  • Unsollicated approach via PM for commercial or other purposes;
  • Inappropriate physical contact;
  • Unwelcome sexual attention;
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour.

If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everyone. We want you to be happy at our event. People like you make our event a better place!

Additionally, we would like to point out that we have a strict policy against unsolicited communication by vendors and other commercial actors through our online channels, including but not limited to our community boards and personal messages.

If you feel unsafe in any way, or notice that someone else feels threatened or unsafe, if you are approached via PM in an unsuitable way, or have any other concerns, please bring this to the attention of EGI Staff at the registration desk or contact us via email: events@egi.eu

Delegates violating our Code of Conduct will be asked to cease immediately. Repeated non-compliance  may result in exclusion of the conference without reimbursement.

This anti-harassment policy is partially based on the example policy from the Geek Feminism wiki, created by the Ada Initiative and other volunteers.
