The Dutch Digital Infrastructure Landscape and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC)

Date: 5 November 2020 - 10:00 - 11:30

Room: http://go.egi.eu/egi2020synergy

Access: same password as the EGI conference programme

The organisation of the meeting is a joint effort by EGI, DANS and the EOSC Synergy Project.

In 2020 the EOSC-Synergy project ran a series of landscape analysis studies in seven constituent countries: Czech Republic, Spain, Slovakia, Poland, Portugal, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The results of the work provides a living snapshot of the data services, including strategies, roadmaps, policies and practices about services, resources and data  in the relevant countries. Going further, the EOSC-Synergy project intends to assess the major gaps and formulate policy recommendations to relevant stakeholders for better harmonisation across European countries.

It is the aim of this (virtual) meeting to present the findings of the Dutch landscape analysis, to validate the results, and to discuss how researchers can best be provided with the data services and digital infrastructure that meet their demands. After an introduction to EOSC Synergy and a presentation of the Dutch report, feedback of the audience will be requested in a final discussion.

There are at least 100 digital infrastructure facilities in The Netherlands that provide data and related digital services to research: locally, for specific domains or research communities, nationally and internationally. Several of these are strong players in Open Science, a number of them with a national or international role. There are also several coordinating groups and platforms, at different levels and often with overlapping aims. Policies are under development nationally and internationally on how this rapidly evolving infrastructure can best be organized.
